Here you will find older archived items of news from us...

Refill Swansea is live!
It was officially launched on saturday 24th November by former Coronation Street actress and Swansea girl, Caroline Berry.

Plastic Free Swansea and Swansea University are working together on the scheme locally, which is part of a  nationwide campaign to reduce single use plastic at source. It is all about enabling people to reuse and refill bottles with tap water rather buying a single use plastic bottle.
We need your help to sign up cafes, restaurants etc. so contact us if you want to get involved locally.

Minister's visit
It was great to welcome Wales' Environment Minister, Hannah Blythyn to the Environment Centre in late July. She came to find out more about Plastic Free Swansea, share information and good practice and chat about what's going on locally with the campaign. Naturally she was interested in the Centre's shop and the large stock of plastic-free and alternative items. So all in in all... a very productive and positive visit!
A crowd gathered around the Plastic Free Swansea stall at the annual Green Fayre at The Waterfront museum to witness the launch of Refill Swansea. Hannah Osman from Refill Cymru explained what the programme is all about and Caroline Berry was there to lend her support. Later, the cafe in the museum, 'Y Cei' signed up to be part of the scheme and the official window sticker was put in place.
We really believe this will go from strength to strength and that more places will register on the Refill App to participate in allowing free refills of water in their establishments.

Wales as a 'Refill' nation
On 7th May, The Environment Minister Hannah Blythyn announced plans to consolidate Wales’s place as the leading UK nation for recycling and reducing waste, as well as her ambition for Wales to be the World’s first ‘Refill Nation.’
